Mike Jordan was born in Hornsea, East Yorkshire. Educated at Hornsea Secondary School and Beverley Grammar followed by 4 years at Huddersfield Polytechnic (now University) studying Chemistry. He worked in the Chemical Industry as a Shift Chemist and moved to Sherburn in 2004.
He was elected as a District Councillor in 2007 at Selby and has remained on this serving the Carlton and Camblesforth Ward
Married to Sally Jordan a Primary School teacher at an independant school with 2 children both now left home, one working in Ilkley for Virtual College and one working as a Paramedic for Leeds Ambulance Service
Hobbies consist of restoring old cars (Mk1 Cortina) and motorcycling and cycling.
He has involved himself in local community projects and is pressing for improved services locally in conjunction with fellow local councillors.
District Council activity:
Mike is Chair of Audit . Present work is centred a great deal around Plan Selby and the proper developement of Selby District with a site allocation plan to be developed.
County Council activities:
Mike lost the County seat in 2013 at Sherburn in Elmet but has been elected to serve for Selby South. Currently Mike is Chair of the Transport, Environment and Economy Board and also sits on the Pension Board. Proper developement of the vilages, particularly the likely developement at Carlton is high on his agenda.
Conservative Party Work
Mike also helps with the voluntary side of the party as one of the ‘foot soldiers’ getting out the message on behalf of the party.
Mike works with Cllr Dave Peart and is currently busy getting the message out about the changes that Drax Power Station want to make.
